The first issue of the new LITERARY SAVANNAH MAGAZINE appeared on December 5, 2010, with following editions on a bi-monthly basis thereafter. Literary Savannah will publish the fiction, non-fiction, poetry and art of both established writers and emerging talents who are native to or reside in the Savannah-tidewater area. Magazine content will be broadly balanced to appeal to the widest possible readership. Standards for acceptance will be professionally exacting. We take a broad view of the word “literary.” For us it means all writing of professional quality, from the most esoteric to the most popular. A fitting subtitle for Literary Savannah might be “The Literary Magazine That People Actually Read.”
Contents
• Fiction, both short stories and excerpts from longer works in progress or recently published work. Professional quality but not necessarily ”literary” in the narrow sense of the word.
• Serials. One is lined up for the first few issues.
• Poetry.
• Non-fiction: Features, articles with a local history (nostalgia) slant, humor, profiles,
interviews, service pieces (how to do this or that) slanted to our targeted readership, reviews of recent books
• Departments: Letters to the editor, column on gossip and happenings in literary world (need someone for this), column on rare books and book collecting.
Writer’s Guidelines
Fiction: Short stories from 1000 to 2500 words. Some tie-in to the region is good but certainly not necessary. Submit without query.
Non-fiction: 1000 to 2000 words. Prefer anecdotal, personal style. First person OK. Query first.
Humor: 1000 words max. Submit without query.
Profiles: Call to suggest subjects for profiles and interviews.
Reviews: Books published (we like self-publishers) in the last six months.

Payment:
Contributors may place 1/3 page ads gratis to promote their own books or services. Net proceeds from ad sales in future editions will be divided among contributors.
Advertising
Advertising sales are the key to broad print distribution, since printing is a major expense. Ads in this first edition are complimentary.
